About Journey Church
We moved onto the University of Nevada, Reno campus in early 2013 after two years of meeting in downtown Reno. We're not about creating "another church." We're about doing church.

We are real people meeting the real Jesus.

That's not a cute little slogan. It's about coming as you are (physically, emotionally, spiritually) to an encounter with the Jesus of the Bible. We believe that once you meet Jesus, you begin to change from the inside.

That's why we talk about real issues. About real life. And we seek real answers from the One that has them. If you already love Jesus, come join us. If you're curious about him, come check us out.

You'll be glad you did.

Please note we have moved! After nearly 6 years at the college, we have found our permanent home. We're now at 630 Gentry Way in Reno. It's off Moana and Kietzke. See you there!

Tim has been the pastor of Journey Church since 2019 when he stepped into the role after the passing of church founder/pastor Rick Redding.

Tim’s story is a perfect example of what Journey Church is all about, a life changed by the resurrective power of Jesus Christ. After 20 years of addiction, being in and out of jail, and ending up homeless, he entered the addiction recovery program at the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission. Through their faith-based program he found sobriety and purpose through his faith in God.

Tim’s day job is at the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission where he has worked since graduating their program in 2009. In 2015 he became the mission’s chaplain and has been serving in that capacity ever since.

Being the pastor at Journey Church and the mission’s chaplain keep him pretty busy but in his free time, Tim enjoys playing golf and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Jeff Peterson is our music guy.

And music guys aren't really known for their diligence in completing stuff that doesn't involve music, so we don't have a nice little bio on him yet. He's a busy guy with work and all, and being a husband to Teri and a dad to his kids.

But we can tell you that Jeff's been around the Northern Nevada church music scene for several decades.

He's a talented guitar player who has been involved with University Family Fellowship and LifeChurch to name a few of the churches.

And he's passionate about Christ and making a difference in this world.
